Name: Greenville Police Department's Law Enforcement Memorial Service
    Date: May 18, 2023
    Time: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM CDT
    Event Description:
The Greenville Police Department is set to host its 24th Annual Law Enforcement Memorial. When a law enforcement officer leaves home for work, he says farewell to his family, knowing it may be a final farwell. It's been that way since the very first police officer pinned on a badge.

On Thursday, May 18th at 11 a.m. the Greenville Police Department, Butler County Sheriff's Department, and Georgiana Police Department will honor those officers and deputies that didn't make it home during an annual memorial service at the Wendell Mitchell Center on the campus of LBW.

Since 1904, four Greenville Police officers have been killed in the line of duty.

The Butler County Sheriff's Office has also lost four deputies in the line of duty.

In addition to recognizing officers who made the ultimate sacrifice, the ceremony will also offer a chance to honor the service of the department's current officers.

The Greenville Police Department will present its coveted Officer of the Year award, the Butler County Sheriff's Office will likewise acknowledge it Deputy of the Year.

The memorial service is open to the public, and all are welcome to attend.

The deadline to RSVP a seat for this event is Friday, May 12. For more information, call Christy at the GPC at 334-382-7461.
